My research group focuses on the molecular events underlying the developmental progression of Trypanosoma brucei, a digenetic parasite. Our aim is to understand which extra- and intracellular signals drive parasite adaptation to the various host environments. We are particularly interested in the molecular mechanisms that control metabolic remodeling and ultrastructural changes in the parasite´s single mitochondrion during the life cycle.
