We study how tissue mechanics and mechanotransduction contribute to epithelial homeostasis. In particular, we are interested in understanding how cell-cell junctions serve as hubs to detect changes in force balance associated with homeostatic disturbance and elicit cellular responses to restore homeostasis. We apply experimental approaches combined with physical theory and modelling, using cellular and zebrafish models.
