In collaboration with Kiyoshi Nagai, my current research uses biochemical, genetic and structural methods to understand the structure and functions of the U5 snRNP protein Prp8: the largest and most conserved spliceosomal protein. Prp8 forms the active site cavity of the spliceosome and interacts extensively with crucial sequences in the spliceosome's catalytic RNA core.
