Many eukaryotic mRNAs are regulated at the level of translation, particularly those that have cellular functions associated with cell proliferation, cell death and tumourigenesis. My research has been directed towards answering broad questions on aspects of post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression, how this is regulated following toxic injury, and the involvement of aberrant translation initiation in neoplasia.
