We study the mechanisms of induction and regulation of the immunosuppressive cytokine IL-10 in macrophages, dendritic cells and T cells to uncover mechanisms for its production and function in infections such as chronic MTb and a broad spectrum of infectious or inflammatory diseases. Leading on from our findings in human TB, we will also dissect the role of Type I IFNs and Type I IFN-inducible genes in TB pathogenesis.
