NDR kinases are conserved from yeast to man. Knock-out models in yeast and fly indicate that the respective Ndr homologs serve essential functions. The mammalian genome encodes four NDR kinases, namely NDR1/2 and LATS1/2. Both NDR and LATS are activated by MST kinases, the central component of the Hippo pathway. We aim to decipher the contribution of NDR to the Hippo pathway and beyond.
