Proteins from the cytosol continuously remodel the membranes of cellular organelles. Coats deform membranes into transport vesicles. Golgins, sort of molecular strings, tether vesicles to restrict their diffusion. Last, lipid-modifying enzymes induce changes in membrane composition. We study these mechanisms using molecular, cellular and in-silico approaches and focus on the effects of membrane curvature and composition (e.g. poly-unsaturation).
