My research is directed at understanding how proteins fold to generate function but sometimes misfold and cause disease. My group is focused on using biophysical techniques to define the mechanism by which misfolding results in amyloid deposits such as those associated with Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases. We are exploring the specific structural species that give rise to pathogenicity and hence the initiation and spreading of disease.
