My laboratory studies the molecular basis of Intellectual Disabilities. Our goal is to understand the regulation of mRNA metabolism and local protein synthesis during brain development in physiological and pathological conditions. Our long lasting interest is the Fragile X syndrome, the most frequent form of inherited mental retardation, but our research seeks to extend those studies to Autism Spectrum Disorders, Schizophrenia as well as Alzheimer's Disease.
