Our lab is studying biological systems from single molecules to organisms and evolution, using physical approaches (via both new experimental tools and models). Thus we study single DNA-protein interactions in-vitro using a magnetic trap system that we developed. We also investigate these issues in-vivo in single E. coli using single molecule fluorescence technique. We are also developing tools to control and observe cellular processes at the single cell level in a live organism. Finally, we study problems in bacterial evolution and ecology.
