Transmembrane proteins are moved between organelles in transport vesicles. The protein coats that surround transport vesicle possess both a self-assembly function, and cargo selection. In collaboration with other groups we take an integrated structural (X-ray crystallography)/functional approach to studying protein:protein and protein lipid interactions from a number of transport vesicle and organelle biogenesis events with an emphasis on cargo and SNARE selection and on the temporal and spatial regulation of the overall processes.
