Our lab studies the processes by which eukaryotic cells adapt to changing levels in the load of unfolded proteins that are presented to the folding machinery of their endoplasmic reticulum. This problem extends from the molecular nature of the upstream stress signaling events to the intracellular transduction pathways and the biological consequences of endoplasmic reticulum stress in whole organisms.
