Our group investigates the question of multicellularity through plant-specific intercellular pores called plasmodesmata. These pores are singular amongst other eukaryotic cellular junctions by providing direct cytoplasmic, plasma membrane, and endomembrane continuity from cell to cell. Using multidisciplinary approaches we study the operating mode of plasmodesmata focusing on their unique membrane organisation.
