My group studies the PTEN controlled signaling pathway and tumorigenesis. By analyzing cells, animal models and human cancer samples lacking the PTEN tumor suppressor gene, we have demonstrated that PTEN negatively regulates stem cell self-renewal, proliferation and survival. We also established various animal models to explore the molecular mechanisms underlying human cancers and to develop new therapies.
