Our lab studies the enigmatic biology of long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs). Over 50,000 of such genes are encoded in the human genome, but how many of them are functionally important (and how) remains unclear. We study lncRNA functions in early embryonic development of mammals and try to decipher their modes of action. We also study lncRNA evolution and use comparative genomics to pinpoint their functionally important domains.
