Nuclear reprogramming by eggs and oocytes of Xenopus

Our group is interested in the mechanisms that lead to the reprogramming of transplanted somatic cell nuclei to the oocytes of Xenopus. We try to identify the components of eggs and oocytes that cause transcriptional activation of individual genes that are activated by reprogramming. We are particularly interested in the mechanisms that lead to resistance of some somatic genes to reprogramming by eggs and oocytes.
