Oxygen sensing; Parkinson's disease

My research interests are on two main topics: a) Molecular mechanisms of acute and chronic oxygen sensing, particularly in the carotid body. Pathophysiology of adaptation to hypoxia. b) Novel therapeutic approaches to Parkinson's disease (cell therapy with carotid body cells and up-regulation of GDNF production by striatal interneurons).
