Our basic approach is to genetically manipulate and change genes in mice and to determine the effects of these mutations in development and disease pathogenesis. We have also modelled human diseases in Drosophila performing whole genome scans for triglycerides, avoidance (pain), infections, or heart failure. Moreover, my lab has developed the first ever haploid mammalian embryonic stem cells in the world that allows us to combine the power of 'yeast genetics' with stem cell pluripotency.
