My group is interested in the chemosensory behaviour of bacteria, specifically the photoheterotroph Rhodobacter sphaeroides, and how the chemosensory pathway regulates the rotation of the flagellum, directing the bacterium to the optimum environment for growth. We are also interested in protein dynamics, turnover and localisation. Methods include: molecular biology, in vivo fluorescence microscopy, behavioural analysis, bioinformatics, biophysics and mathematical modelling.
Keywords: Bacterial chemotaxis / bacterial motility / rhodobacter / sensory networks / in-vivo imaging
