I am an evolutionary biologist and mycologist aiming at uncovering general principles of the evolution of complexity, multicellularity, as well as mechanisms of convergent evolution. In our research we use fungi as models and combine comparative, computational and experimental approaches. We strive to address recalcitrant and broad questions in fungal and evolutionary biology and to translate basic research to applications in fungal biotechnology.
