Engineering stem cell self-organization

By uniquely interfacing bioengineering and stem cell biology, we study how stem cells take decisions and how their decision-making process is influenced by signals from the microenvironment. A major focus is on coaxing stem cells in vitro into organoids by exposing them to well-controlled artificial microenvironments. Our ambition is to achieve organoid development in a deterministic and predictable manner by steering stem cell self-organization.
