Our group is studying the basis for the generation of different organismal forms. To address this problem we employ molecular genetic and comparative development approaches in plants with divergent morphologies and focus our attention on leaf shape. To advance work in the field we developed Cardamine hirsuta, a plant related to the reference organism Arabidopsis thaliana, as an experimental system to study how diversity in plant morphology is generated.
