My group has been working on the mechanism and in-vitro reconstitution of germ-cell development in mice, non-human primates, and humans. We have created a foundation for in-vitro gametogenesis based on pluripotent stem cells and have clarified key mechanisms in germ-cell development such as transcriptional circuitry, epigenetic reprogramming and sex determination/meiotic entry. We are exploring the evolution of these mechanisms for human development.
Keywords: Primordial germ cells (PGCs) / in-vitro gametogenesis / single-cell transcriptome analysis / epigenetic reprogramming / pluripotent stem cells
