Host-parasite coevolution: the Toxoplasma paradigm

Toxoplasma is responsible of toxoplasmosis, a worldwide foodborne zoonosis which is severe when opportunistic or congenital. Our group explores how the parasite diverts host epigenetic regulators from their native functions to rewire host gene expression to counteract the innate immune response and to promote parasitism. We also explore the fascinating epigenetic mechanisms driving the parasite's chronicity and sexual development in feline hosts.
