Evolution of the genomic encoding of shape in tunicates

We study the evolution of embryonic development within the Tunicates, the vertebrate sister group. Among tunicates, ascidian embryos constitute remarkable model organisms for a systems biology approach thanks to their large number, their optical transparency and their anatomical and genomic simplicity. To decipher how genomic information drives cell morphogenesis, our multidisciplinary research involves both in-silico predictions and modelling and in-vivo experiments.
