Our lab is dissecting the mechanisms by which the multiple functions of the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) are coordinated and ER homeostasis is achieved. Towards this goal, the projects in the lab fall into two main areas: (i) the mechanisms and physiological roles of the ER-associated protein degradation; and (ii) the mechanisms of lipid synthesis, dynamics and storage in lipid droplets, organelles physically and functionally associated with the ER.
Keywords: Endoplasmic reticulum / protein quality control / lipid droplets / nuclear envelope / organelle biogenesis / organelle homeostasis
