Our group is studying the photobiology of microalgae and is developing new tools for optogenetic application. Currently we are working on the structure/function relation of various channelrhodopysins, Histidine-Kinase Rhodopsins, photochromic animal rhodopsins, and blue-light regulated enzymes. We are still trying to establish reliable gene targeting in Chlamydomonas and other algae for a better characterization of the physiological function.
