My group uses ancient DNA and proteins to study evolution in the human past. We study fine-scale evolution in human populations over the past few thousand years, the origin and evolution of domestic dogs, and the origin of our species, Homo sapiens. We also study ancient pathogen genomes to understand co-evolution with hosts. The research brings together archaeology, molecular biology, and computational population genomics.
