I have a long-standing interest in the origin and generation of biological diversity. To identify associated molecular mechanisms, my research focuses on two principles, the evolution of developmental processes and the evolution of novelty. We use nematodes as model systems to combine laboratory studies with fieldwork and have established Pristionchus pacificus as model for integrative evolutionary biology.
