In my group we strive to understand how gene expression is controlled by chromatin-based and epigenetic systems, with a focus on CpG island elements in vertebrates. We use a multidisciplinary approach leveraging biochemistry, molecular genetics, genomics, and live-cell imaging to achieve this. With this new understanding, we aspire to then discover how these systems lead to human diseases when perturbed.
