Circulating immune cells exit blood vessels near specific target sites of injury and inflammation. The vessel wall at these sites displays combinations of specialized traffic signals for specific immune cell subsets. Using flow chambers and intravital microscopy, we dissect in vivo and ex vivo how endothelial and interstitial trafficking molecules promote context- and tissue- selective immune cell recruitment to peripheral and lymphoid organs.
