Plant post embryonic growth depends on the activities of meristems, localized structure where stem cells reside. To maintain meristem activities, the rate of cell differentiation must equal the rate of generation of new cells. Using the Arabidopsis thaliana root meristem as a model system, my aim is to shed light on the molecular mechanisms involved in balancing cell division with cell differentiation, thus ensuring continuous organ growth.
