My group examines the genetic mechanisms that regulate the early development of the mammalian brain. We seek to uncover the patterning mechanisms that operate in the neocortical and hippocampal primordia and ensure that unique cell types are produced in these structures. We also study how common progenitors give rise to neurons and glia and the mechanisms that control this transition.
