In my group we are interested in resolving major evolutionary transitions across the Tree of Life. We combine metagenomics and phylogenomics approaches to explore the diversity of Bacteria and Archaea and reconstruct the evolutionary history of fundamental biological processes. Recently, we have started integrating our in-silico analyses with experimental work on two new archaeal and bacterial models from the human microbiome.
