Molecular and cellular biology of archaea

My group uses Sulfolobus and Haloferax species as cren- and euryarchaeal model organisms. We study the biogenesis of the archaeal cell envelope with a focus on the assembly and function of surface structures such as the archaellum and different type IV pili. Moreover, we study how archaea divide and which factors play a role in this process.
