My lab studies how complex brain circuits are assembled during development and how these circuits integrate sensory cues, internal state signals, and past experience to make informed behavioral decisions. We tackle these fundamental questions by investigating the brain of the fruit fly Drosophila, where sophisticated genetic tools permit visualization and manipulation of neural circuits with extremely high cellular and temporal precision.
