Research in our lab focuses on understanding the molecular and evolutionary mechanisms that regulate developmental patterns, sexual life cycles and associated reproductive features in brown algae. Brown algae evolved complex multicellularity independently from animals and plants, and are therefore a highly valuable lineage for investigating developmental processes in a broad evolutionary context.
