My interests are in virology, originally of bacteriophages, where I studied self-assembly and morphogenesis. Later I shifted to plant viruses, where I recognized the first plant pararetrovirus (CaMV) and detected special viral translation strategies. Recently I became interested in the topic of RNA-interference, silencing and silencing suppression. Privately I like snow, mountains, white water, foreign continents and photography.
