Long noncoding RNPs in health and disease

After discovering ribozymes (catalytic RNAs) our lab analyzed their mechanism and three-dimensional structure. The group now studies ribonucleoprotein complexes. One major system is telomerase, which maintains chromosome ends and is reactivated in most human cancers. Other systems involve human long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) and their protein partners such as PRC2 (Polycomb Repressive Complex 2).

Keywords: Long noncoding RNAs / telomerase / chromosome end replication / telomere proteins / epigenetic silencing
