The overall research theme in our lab is the structural and functional characterization of enzymes and enzyme assemblies that contribute to the bacterial defense systems which target invading nucleic acids. In particularly, we aim at an understanding of molecular mechanisms of CRISPR-mediated microbial immunity, structural and molecular mechanisms of restriction enzymes, and development of tools for targeted genome modification.
Keywords: Nuclease / CRISPR-Cas / restriction enzymes / genome editing tools / nucleic acid-protein interactions
